Our mini-album releases Friday 6 November 2026

“The world’s a mess, but we’ll go again”
Pink Opaque are quite overcome with joy to share with you the new mini-album Midnight in the Metaverse – a small but perfectly formed compendium of the first five songs they created together (including a new ‘Grantham mix’ of the first single I Wanna Be Like Lauren Laverne).
The band’s lyrical preoccupations are already emerging here – a world where the tech bro agenda undermines the very basis of humanity, but where salvation is always possible through self-determination, love, facial glitter and banging tunes.
And while we’ve all grown used to seeing a favourite venue close its doors for the last time, it’s also a world where Mark Zuckerberg emerges as a kind of digital Ozymandias, impotent among the colossal wreck of his virtual reality marketplace with $80billion worth of egg on his face.
Dancing isn’t the limit of our potential responses to this world, but it’s a good start, and these tracks constitute an irresistibly catchy first draft of Pink Opaque’s manifesto of joy via futurepop.
Crafted using 100% human creativity and 0% generative AI, Midnight in the Metaverse is available to pre-order now as a digital download and on a beautiful pink cassette tape (which includes the download). Stream from Friday 6 November via all major platforms except Amazon.
